Virgin River is returning to Netflix for a second series in 2020 but its release date has not yet been announced.
What we know is it will not arrive in September 2020. But don’t worry, we have a lot more to tell you.
Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming second season! We’ve included who’s going to be involved when we’re likely to see its release, and perhaps most importantly, what’s going to happen in season 2.
Despite the lack of a trailer, many subscribers have already logged on to watch the Virgin River. It’s not surprising that the series has resonated well with subscribers, as small-town drama is always very popular with audiences.
It took some time, but Netflix is finally investing in Hallmark-Esque dramas, and Virgin River is the perfect series to test the waters.
Virgin River is an original romantic drama series from Netflix based on the novels of the same name by author Robyn Carr. The series was produced by Sea To Sky Productions ULC, and all of the filmings takes place in Canada.
For those who are worried about the future of the show, there’s no need to be! As we reported earlier this year, Season 3 has already been renewed and is expected to begin production later this year (or whenever shooting can resume due to COVID restrictions).
Has Netflix renewed the Virgin River for a second season?
Netflix’s official renewal status: Officially renewed (Last updated: 09/12/2019)
Not only was Virgin River renewed, but shooting for the second season began on September 9, 2019 and ended on December 17, 2019. Shooting dates were actually made shortly after the release of the first season. We believe that the second season will take place at Christmas due to the filming schedule, but at the moment this is only speculation.
Once again, filming took place in Vancouver, Canada while it was taking place in rural California.
Series author Robyn Carr spoke to The Washington Post and said, “It’s so exciting to be part of the novel-novel movement taking place in…”, adding, “I told my readers to think of it as a whole new Virgin River adventure with your favorite characters. ».
We knew that about a month before the official renewal came from Netflix’s See What’s Next account, which saw the stars of the show expressing their enthusiasm for another season. This despite the fact that the shooting was probably already finished on season 2!

When will the second season of the Virgin River be on Netflix?
We currently expect the series to be released on Netflix towards the end of the year. Fans have been teased throughout the year with a broad release date for 2020 and it was again off the September 2020 release schedule.
Unfortunately, the official Instagram for the series also doesn’t give any hints outside of a broad 2020 release. Some have speculated on a December 2020 release date that might make sense if the series had Christmas episodes.
For the first season of Virgin River, there was a nine-month wait between the shooting of the end of the first season and its release date. The shooting of the second season ended on December 17, 2019. This is three months earlier than the first season, which ended in March 2019.

All we know about Virgin River Season 2
Season 2 should consist of 10 episodes like the previous season. Andy Mikita is confirmed to direct episodes 1 and 2 of season 2. On December 11th, we had what seems to be the first picture of the Virgin River shoot with a rather naked Martin Henderson on-screen behind a wood fire.
Robyn Carr, who is the author of Virgin River, will soon publish a new book under the name Sunrise on Half Moon Bay. In addition, another of Robyn’s books has recently been selected for television as the Sullivan’s Crossing book series. In January 2020, Robyn Carr tweeted a list of the best novels to read after signing with the Virgin River.
At the end of February 2020, we had more behind-the-scenes shots of the shoot. Roma Roth, who serves as Executive Producer, reported that a big meeting was held on February 7 for the new Robyn Carr series.

At the end of March 2020, we got more footage via Instagram from backstage. A new book in the world of Virgin River is expected to be published by Robyn Carr in October 2020. It is called Return to Virgin River and will be released in all good bookstores on October 13, 2020. In August 2020, we received a few new excerpts, including new behind-the-scenes footage.
